Specifically, I meant in the context of the gay rodeo association. Their site has galleries of events and there are like 2 or 3 drag queens among the 50 or 60 participants and it struck me as odd.
Exaggerated feminity in any of its forms - and the country/western tradition has plenty - is a magnet for imitation, or homage (as some might prefer to say). All hail Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Minnie Pearl!
